Fundamentals to Affirm New Acquisition at LCNI this October
Fundamentals Ltd will once again be exhibiting at LCNI (Low Carbon Networks & Innovation Conference) and will be exhibiting with Powerline Technologies. The event will mark the launch of Fundamentals acquiring 51% of Powerline Technologies.
Powerline Technologies develops and markets a range of smart grid products aimed at electricity Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) who are under intense pressure to increase network reliability, reduce carbon emissions and accommodate renewable energy. The partnership will introduce cable health monitoring to compliment the grid control solutions of Fundamentals; a company that design and manufacture systems for Automatic Voltage Control (AVC) and boast a wide portfolio of services to improve the health and performance of the electrical power grid.
Powerline Technologies and Fundamentals have significant synergy in power distribution network monitoring, fault detection and location and asset management. Powerline Technologies is currently developing a solution, VoltNetTM, to accurately detect, classify and locate underground cable faults. This development complements the existing Fundamentals SPi range of underground fault passage indicators.
“We’re currently experiencing a large recruitment drive and fast becoming a medium-sized company,” said Fundamentals Managing Director Jon Hiscock. “The majority acquisition of Powerline Technologies further extends our offering and contributes to the ambitious growth targets we have in place.”
Vincent Thornley, Technology Director at Fundamentals, added, “The health and safety impact and cost of maintaining old underground cable networks is a key concern of our customers at this time, and VoltNet™ addresses this perfectly. We are very pleased with Powerline Technologies’ innovation in this area.”
Fundamentals and Powerline Technologies can be found at stand E03 and E06 at LCNI from 11th - 13th October 2016. Together, they will be showcasing the Fundamentals SuperTAPP SG - the latest AVC relay for transformer and tapchanger management; the Morgan Schaffer Calisto 9 – that delivers solutions to simplify the condition assessment of large high-voltage transformers using dissolved gas analysis (DGA); the Aclara Lighthouse® - overhead smart grid sensors with predictive grid analytics software (represented in the UK and Europe by Powerline Technologies) and the Powerline Technologies VoltNet™ solution for accurate early detection, classification and location of underground cable faults.
