Fundamentals strengthens its relationship with GE

Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) and legacy Tapchanger deals bring Fundamentals closer to energy multinational.

Fundamentals Ltd has started 2019 with good news after adding two new agreements that brings it closer to industry giant, GE.  The first sees a Channel Partnership for GE’s M&D portfolio; the second is Fundamentals’ purchase of GE’s legacy Tapchanger Intellectual Property.

The official appointment of Fundamentals as Channel Partner for GE’s Monitoring and Diagnostics (M&D) portfolio, part of the GE Grid Solutions business, will see Fundamentals working closely with GE’s M&D team.

The outcome will be a wide range of products and solutions to monitor and manage critical assets on the electrical grid, detect and diagnose issues and provide expert information and services to customers. All GE M&D business for the UK market will now be handled by Fundamentals.

GE Power’s Grid Automation Business Development Manager, Daniela Stearn, stated: “Our asset monitoring and manufacture equipment for monitoring High Voltage plant. Our portfolio includes solutions for single- and multi-gas transformer DGA, enhanced transformer solutions and switchgear monitoring, as well as software and services. Fundamentals has a lot of expertise in these areas and it seemed like an obvious choice of partner. We look forward to working with them moving forwards.”

According to Fundamentals Sales and Marketing Manager, Russell Clayman: “This new partnership is a huge step in the growth plan of Fundamentals and it complements our existing range of products and services. It means that we can expand our portfolio to offer more comprehensive solutions to our existing clients, start engaging with new clients and, most importantly, create even happier customers.”

A positive legacy

The purchase of GE’s Tapchanger IP is the result of the company’s withdrawal of support for its legacy products.  At the time of withdrawing its support, GE stated it was “committed to ensuring ongoing customer needs are considered” which meant “providing a solution for our customers’ continued service and maintenance requirements.”

With extensive knowledge and industry experience already under its belt, Fundamentals was ideally placed to take on the role of service maintenance and repair of GE’s products. As a result, Fundamentals now officially replaces GE’s Grid Solutions as authorised support for all tapchanger products manufactured by AEI, British Thomson Houston (BTH), English Electric, GEC, Hackbridge & Hewittic and Metropolitan Vickers.
