RMS Mors Smitt Take the Fundamentals SuperTAPP SG Global

Fundamentals Ltd is delighted to welcome RMS Mors Smitt on-board as a favoured distributor. Fundamentals has appointed the Australian-based company to distribute their most technically advanced AVC (Automatic Voltage Control) relay, the SuperTAPP SG, to Australia, Malaysia and the Gulf States.

The SuperTAPP SG is the latest realisation of Fundamentals’ market-leading SuperTAPP range of AVC (Automatic Voltage Control) relays for transformer and tapchanger management. The ‘TAPP’ relays have enabled the circulating current between transformers to be calculated and used in such a way that every transformer can decide independently which tap position is the correct one.

The SuperTAPP SG provides practical options to deliver a Smart Grid approach for distributed generation, network interconnection and reconfiguration, flexible and highly variable loads and many other scenarios which cause challenges for voltage control. Not only does the SuperTAPP SG have the same features as previous relays, but it also comes with a powerful communications platform, supporting the main SCADA communication protocols used in the power system industry. The modular design of the SuperTAPP SG offers flexibility in the AVC scheme design through personalisation and furthermore, it is also expandable in the future.

The new partnership between Fundamentals and RMS Mors Smitt became official in March 2016 when both companies joined forces at the Dubai-based Middle East Electricity Trade Fair (MEE). MEE is the largest international trade event for the power industry, covering the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity.

Fundamentals Ltd Technology Director, Dr Vincent Thornley, commented:

“SuperTAPP SG is the latest in a long line of TAPP-based AVC relays. RMS Mors Smitt has previous success in deploying these relays and we are delighted in this new formal relationship which, we hope, is the only the start of our global coverage as the leading voltage control experts.”

RMS Mors Smitt has a network of partners that can install and fit the SuperTAPP SG. Since MEE they have experienced an outbreak of activity in the form of enquiries and quotes and they hope to be installing their first SuperTAPP SG in the very near future.

Lester Doig, Managing Director of RMS Mors Smitt commented:

“We’re delighted to have the go ahead from Fundamentals to distribute the SuperTAPP SG to Australia, Malaysia and the Gulf States, one of our key markets. It further extends and compliments what we currently offer and will allow a Smart Grid approach with major benefits for these countries.”
